On Friday May 18th, the special education students from Palmer High and Old Mill Pond elementary attended The Special Olympics at Quabbin Regional High School. The games opened with each school walking together as one on the track, along with students singing the National Anthem. Palmer’s first game was ball toss, and each school rotated which activities they did. Some of the other activities included soccer, football, running the track, and the long jump. For the high schoolers, each student was paired with another for guidance and motivation through each activity. At around 12 o’clock, the award ceremony began and one school was called at a time. After each student received a medal, Palmer headed back to the school where the whole school welcomed the students, and congratulated them.
