RC: Hello Everyone and welcome to this week’s episode of the Paw Cast! As Always I’m your host Renee.

NS: And I’m Nicholas!

RC: Today is October 5th, 2018 which officially marks the time to get excited for halloween!

NS: Yes, and the official start of fall! To start us off will be Field Reporter Mahkayla Perrin.

MP: Beautiful week, an annual tradition of palmer high dedicated to promoting self-love, will be held on October 15th through the 19th. This year we also want to focus the week on making the sixth grader feel welcomed. This year’s theme will be:

Monday- groutfit day (wear all gray)

Tuesday- Ruby Tuesday

Wednesday-Whiteout day

Thursday- Mismatched day

Friday- Blackout day

NS: Thank you Mahkayla,Now a little history lesson for today. For anyone unaware this month is not only Breast Cancer awareness month but it is also Hispanic Heritage Month. Hispanic heritage month is recognized between September 15 and ends on October 15 every year, and this year it is especially impactful as Western Mass has became home to many Puerto Ricans affected by Hurricane Maria, which hit last year on September 17, 2017. Puerto Rico is still rebuilding from the tragic natural disaster. This has resulted in them making an extra effort to keep their culture alive, and celebrate it, now that thousands of people have passed on. Many events are being held in Western Mass to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

RC: Joining us this week is is Palmer High’s very own Paula Chapin. Thank you Ms. Chapin for agreeing to the interview with us today.

RC:So, Some background on Chapin; Ms. Chapin is not only the adviser for the school’s yearbook, she also Senior Class adviser, and teaches sophomore and freshman English courses. Ms. Chapin, how long have you been working at Palmer High?

RC:  What was one aspect of the teaching career that you looked forward to most when you first started here? Have you always wanted to teach English courses specifically?

RC: So moving on to Yearbook, have you always been the adviser? What motivated you to take over?

RC: Before becoming the yearbook adviser, did you have any prior experience with creating Yearbooks?

RC: What do you contribute as an Adviser? Are you involved with Layout design, photography, anything of that nature?

RC: So yearbooks are available to be ordered practically year-round, and usually the earlier they are ordered the cheaper they are? Why’s that?

RC: Have you always worked through the same company?  What company is it?

RC: So alongside managing the yearbook, you are also the adviser to the senior class, which I’m sure can be very stressful. How long have you had that obligation? Do you typically enjoy working alongside the senior class?

RC: How do you determine the deadlines for any payments/ photo submissions? Is it all based on the companies that are responsible for things such as graduation robes, event venues, etc.?

RC: Do you do all this planning on your own?

RC: Would you say being in charge of both the Senior Class and yearbook have benefits? If so what are they?

RC: Well thank you Ms.Chapin for joining us today, and for any seniors the pink information sheets were due today and  the first deadline for a minimum payment of $40 is due December fourteenth to Chapin in room 302.

RC: For anyone interested in suggesting an idea for future episodes, or if you are interested in a feature in the paw cast, please visit us during C block in the 303 computer lab. Thank you for joining us and we will see you next Time.

NS: And this concludes this episode of the Paw Cast. Thank you for watching and we will see you next week.
