On Sunday an 11 year old boy was rescued by people fishing after he fell through ice. The boy was hiking with one of his family members and decided to  head home alone. He took a shortcut across the pond when he went too close to a channel where the ice was thinner which led him to fall through the ice. There were people ice fishing nearby. The people ice fishing said that they saw him submerge to his chest, so they called 911 and pulled him out of the water to shore. The child was conscious when he was rescued. The Amherst paramedics brought him to Cooley Dickinson Hospital where he was later treated for mild hypothermia.
